MetalQuest Unlimited has partnered with Okuma Corporation utilizing the advanced technology of the THINC® CNC machine controller. MetalQuest specializes in complex automated machining operations, harnessing the power of Okuma’s multi-tasking lathes, machining centers, collision avoidance systems, and real-time 3-D imaging and animation. Integrating the THINC® technology, which expands the typical CNC machine controller to a Microsoft Windows ™ PC-compatible controller, gives MetalQuest flexibility to design processes, interface applications and peripheral devices, and monitor unattended machines. This allows MetalQuest to tie the machine tool directly to the ERP and quality systems. Bar code guns tied into the controller and the ERP system, as well as inspection gages tied into the controller and the quality system are two examples of device integration. In addition, troubleshooting and machine monitoring can be done from a manager or technicians office, or even done from another part of the country.
